Mamneth Meadow trek is the perfect way to explore the natural beauty of Srinagar in a short amount of time. The trek starts from Dara Harwan which is about 14kms North of Srinagar. The trek promises to be a rejuvenating experience that will leave you refreshed and invigorated. The meadow offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the valley.
The normal route is about 4 km and is very beginner friendly but the trail to this meadow that I am going to discuss here is quite uncommon among hikers and is mostly known by forest officials and Bakerwals/Gujjars who during summer time stay with their herds at this place.

Route details:
The starting point is the same as the normal route but after reaching the top of the spur where the conventional route climbs directly up, you have to take the trail that goes towards the right. This trail will traverse the slopes and eventually enters into dense bushes/forest. If you are hiking in a group then it is recommended to move together through this forest as the bear is likely to be found around the trail.
A proper trail is maintained through the forest and after some km, it starts to climb up the spur. The ascent is around 300m to the top and it follows the spur until you get a distant view of the meadow. While we were climbing this spur, we saw a fresh bear scat which was a sign that the bear also has passed by the trail and we then remained alert while hiking to our destination.
The descent is to be made from the east and the trail will meet the Dara Nala near the two-log wooden bridge. The descent is steep and through the dense foliage and eventually follow the trail going down to starting point.
Thank you for the detailed guide, was searching for the route to it. I hope the bear isn't there
